About Japanese Calligraphy Artist Eisai

I am a professional Japanese calligraphy artist, based in the South of England, with over 25 years’ experience.

I took up shodo (Japanese calligraphy) at the age of 7 and since then have been working on many calligraphy pieces both in traditional, and in my own original style.

I was trained at the ‘Seikyu Shodo kai (青邱書道会)’ calligraphy society founded in 1976 by Seikyu Yamashita. Mr Yamashita was President of The Japanese Calligraphy Education Society. As my master in Japan, Mr Yamashita was the main influence in my development as a calligraphy artist.

After 10 years of practice in the society, I was given my professional calligraphy name, “Eisai (英彩)”. I have had my calligraphy displayed at many exhibitions and events in Japan and the UK.
